Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 August 2026

We ask for as little as we can get away with, and we don't sell any of it. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

1. Who is responsible

The Spoon Lab Limited ("we", "us") is the data user responsible for personal data collected through this website. We are registered in Hong Kong.

We handle personal data in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong.

Questions, requests or complaints: WhatsApp +852 9502 8023.

2. What we collect

When you register your interest, we collect only:

We deliberately do not ask for your full delivery address at this stage. We only collect that later, if and when you choose to place a paid order — because until then we have no reason to hold it.

If you only sign up for launch updates, we collect just your email address.

We may also collect basic technical data such as browser type and pages visited, if we enable analytics. This is not used to identify you personally.

We never collect or store payment card details. If and when you pay, that is handled entirely by our payment processor on their own systems.

3. Why we collect it

PurposeData used
Contacting you about your registrationName, email, WhatsApp number
Planning delivery coverage and capacityDistrict, quantity
Operating the referral schemeName, referral code
Sending production and launch updatesName, email
Processing your order, if you choose to buyAll of the above, plus delivery address

Providing this data is voluntary. But if you don't give us an email address and WhatsApp number, we can't contact you, and we won't be able to hold your price.

We will not use your data for any purpose materially different from those above without asking you first.

4. Direct marketing

We would like to email you occasional updates about BUFF — production progress, launch news, and tasting events.

Under the Ordinance we must obtain your consent before using your personal data for direct marketing, and you may withdraw that consent at any time, at no cost. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, or you can simply email WhatsApp +852 9502 8023 and we'll remove you.

Transactional messages — confirming your registration, telling you your delivery date, or answering a question you asked — are not marketing, and you'll receive those regardless.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to any third party for their own marketing purposes. We never have and we don't intend to.

5. Who we share it with

Only the service providers who help us operate, and each receives only what they need:

We may also disclose personal data where we are required to by law, or to protect our legal rights.

Some of these providers may store data outside Hong Kong. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your data receives a comparable level of protection.

6. How long we keep it

We keep this data until you ask us to delete it, or for 24 months after your last interaction with us, whichever comes first. After that we delete it.

If you become a customer, we may need to keep order and transaction records for longer to meet accounting and tax obligations.

7. Your rights

Under the Ordinance you have the right to:

Email WhatsApp +852 9502 8023. We'll respond within 40 days, as the Ordinance requires. We may charge a reasonable fee for supplying a copy of your data.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong — but we'd rather you told us first so we can put it right.

8. Security

We store personal data on access-controlled systems, and limit access to the people who need it to do their job. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and we hold as little data as possible, which is the most effective protection there is.

9. Cookies

This site does not currently set advertising or tracking cookies. We use your browser's local storage for one thing only: remembering whether you prefer English or Chinese. If we add analytics later, we'll update this page and tell you.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially, we'll update the date above and email everyone on the interest list.

11. Language

This policy is provided in English and Traditional Chinese. If there is any inconsistency between the two versions, the English version prevails.
